LPN - Full-Time Night Shift
About The Position
Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital, a UHS facility, is a 144-bed behavioral health facility offering inpatient services for adolescents, adults, and older adults, behavioral health assessments, and programs addressing co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care according to nursing care plans and patients’ treatment plans. The LPN works with other personnel to maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu and supports patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. This is a full-time night-shift position, scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with rotating holidays and every other weekend.
Requirements
- Graduate of an LPN nursing program.
- Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications, and their correct administration.
- Currently licensed to practice by the State of Michigan Board of Nursing.
Nice To Haves
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care according to nursing care plans and patients’ treatment plans.
- Participate with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Assist with behavior management, crisis control, seclusion, and restraint under the direction of the registered nurse.
- Assist the registered nurse with patient admissions and discharges.
- Administer medications and treatments to patients.
- Assist with medication education, informed consent, and monitoring medication effectiveness and efficacy.
- Document medication and treatment administration according to policies and procedures.
