About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is called to serve those most in need, incorporating the organization's mission, vision, and values of Compassion, Collaboration, Respect, Social Justice, Integrity, and Stewardship. Reporting to the LPN Supervisor, the LPN manages the day-to-day delivery of care to residents by motivating and empowering the team. They work cohesively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nursing process (Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) is individualized and ongoing, addressing and meeting the changing needs of residents. The LPN is responsible for ensuring residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures and provides support to residents, their families, and visitors during end-of-life journeys to enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect, and individuality.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse Program
  • Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • Current CPR / First Aid Certification / Equivalency
  • Strong critical assessment skills
  • Exhibits open and sincere approach to relating to people by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally
  • Recognizes and responds effectively to verbal and non-verbal cues with exceptional active listening skills
  • Ability and knowledge to work in a continuing care setting and the ability to deal with difficult behaviors
  • Ability to cope with frequent changes such as daily routine, workload, shifts and resident needs and possess exceptional multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Vaccination against all required communicable diseases under Covenant Care’s OHS policy
  • Provide a criminal record check not older than 3 months ahead of your commencement date

Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day delivery of care to residents by motivating and empowering the team
  • Working cohesively with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nursing process (Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) is individualized and ongoing, such that changing needs of residents are addressed and met
  • Ensuring that residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures
  • Providing support to residents, their family and visitors during the resident’s end of life journey that will enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect and individuality
  • Model the organizations mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively
  • Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s Mission, Vision, and Values
