About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) must possess the physical, emotional, and technical abilities to work under the direction of the Nurse Manager. This role involves maintaining knowledge of each resident's background and family, verifying and administering medications as prescribed by physicians, and ensuring all medication documentation is accurate and up-to-date. The LPN is also responsible for maintaining the medication room's stock and security, communicating with resident family members, and supervising aides.

  • Ability to work 11pm - 7am shift.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
  • Maintain knowledge of each resident from his/her biosketch and family.
  • Accept & verify resident medications delivered from pharmacy.
  • Verify receipt of physician orders for medications and other treatments.
  • Administer medications per physician's order.
  • Clarify physician orders as needed by calling the physician or his/her designee.
  • Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, change of dosages, etc.
  • Ensure medication room is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, over the counter, and other medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Ensure medication room is secured at all times.
  • Follow facility policies regarding disposal of medications.
  • Communicate, as needed, with resident family members and other legal representatives in a courteous, professional manner.
  • Supervises and gives direction to aides.
