About The Position

The Dermatology Clinic at Stony Point cares for patients of all ages with a range of dermatologic conditions, from acne to transplant-related needs and skin cancer. Services include phototherapy, blue light therapy, and Mohs surgery. Clinical staff complete a Certified Dermatology Tech course and may work in the clinic’s surgical area with the Mohs surgeon. Surgical nurses are being trained to administer local anesthesia, with the training expected to expand to other nursing staff. The Licensed Practical Nurse integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of patients and families. The role assists the health care team with illness and injury prevention, wellness maintenance, and patient comfort; provides direction and education; and begins to assume unit-level leadership responsibilities. The LPN delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care according to medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care. The LPN also safely administers prescribed medications and identifies incompatibilities or interactions. The clinic’s stated hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with morning and afternoon clinic hours and several scheduling options. The posting also states that LPNs work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays. Individual schedules and shift rotations are established with the Nurse Manager or Practice Manager and may be adjusted to meet unit requirements. Free onsite parking is available at the Stony Point campus.
