About The Position

Geisinger is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its outpatient dermatology clinic at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Outpatient Specialty Center. The Clinic Nurse provides clinical support to providers, patients, and families to assist with diagnosis and treatment, and helps maintain continuity and quality of care by following up on diagnostic testing. The role also promotes a clean clinical environment and provides care to patients in the age ranges assigned to the clinical area. This is a full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week on days. Clinic hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. New and experienced LPNs are welcome. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available to eligible candidates. The position is generally performed in a clinical environment. The employee is accountable for meeting job-specific obligations and following organizational policies and procedures. Department-specific orientation may identify additional essential competencies and skills.

Requirements

Graduate of a specialty training program in nursing.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Communication skills.
Computer literacy.
Customer service skills.
Ability to multitask.
Teamwork skills.

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs; provide basic medical data to the provider and prepare patients for examinations.
Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
Assist the provider with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
Document ongoing patient communications as directed by the provider, prioritize communications to the provider, and respond to patient questions and requests in a timely manner.
Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases; maintain required asepsis, ensure instruments and equipment are available, and prepare patients.
Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
Promote a clean environment and provide care appropriate to the assigned patient age range.
