LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Dermatology
About The Position
Geisinger is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its outpatient clinic team at Geisinger Healthplex Woodbine. The Clinic LPN provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and families to assist with diagnosis and treatment. The role includes following up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record, promoting a clean clinical environment, and providing care for patients within the assigned clinical area's age range. This is a regular, full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week on days. New and experienced LPNs are welcome. Eligible candidates may receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The employee must meet job-specific obligations and comply with organizational policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Graduate from a nursing specialty training program.
- Licensed Practical Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Communication, computer literacy, customer service, multitasking, and teamwork skills.

- At least one year of nursing experience (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document patient medical histories, chief complaints, and vital signs, provide a basic medical database for the provider, and prepare patients for examinations.
- Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
- Assist the provider with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Execute and document patient communications as directed by the provider, prioritize communications to the provider, and respond to patient questions and requests in a timely manner.
- Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
- Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases; maintain asepsis and ensure instruments, equipment, and patient preparation are appropriate.
- Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
- Promote a clean environment and provide care appropriate to the patient age range in the assigned clinical area.
