About The Position

Frye Regional Medical Center is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its Medical Surgical department. The 18-bed unit cares for a variety of patients across the life span and offers a collaborative, supportive work environment, self-scheduling, 12-hour shifts, and an every-other-weekend rotation. The role is full-time, with three 12-hour day shifts, and includes a $7,500 commitment-incentive bonus. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the LPN contributes to patient assessment by collecting data for RN analysis, performs plan-of-care interventions such as specimen collection and wound care, and may administer medication. The LPN documents care, assists the RN with developing care plans, helps patients with activities of daily living, and monitors and communicates patient status and responses to interventions to the RN, physician, patients, and families.

Requirements

Current state LPN license.
Active North Carolina single-state LPN license or compact license required.
If relocating, update licensure to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire.
One year of experience required.

Associate’s degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of an RN, contribute to patient assessment by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
Perform plan-of-care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
May administer medication.
Document patient care provided.
Assist the RN with development of the plan of care.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Monitor, document, and communicate patient status and reactions to interventions with the RN, physician, patients, and families.
