About The Position
The Salvation Army is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for a temporary part-time position. This role involves providing nursing care to residents, assessing their needs, administering medications, and contributing to care plans. The position operates on a rotating shift schedule and offers a competitive hourly wage.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Must be full scope practice status.
- One year’s recent related experience.
- Current full practicing licensure with the College of Practical Nurses of BCCNM in good standing.
- Current certificate in CPR.
- Completion of the Learning Hub 8 moderate to high risk violence prevention modules.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
Responsibilities
- Assesses and monitors residents' actual and potential strengths and limitations using a holistic model.
- Encourages resident participation in activities of daily living.
- Contributes to the development and modification of individualized care plans.
- Performs all nursing care and nursing procedures applicable to the LPN Standards of Practice scope.
- Evaluates outcomes, records observations, and utilizes the nursing process.
- Reports problems and/or changes to the designated Team Leader [RN/RPN] and/or Clinical Care Coordinator.
- Administers medications, including liquid narcotics and all subcutaneous, intramuscular injections, to assigned residents according to policy and procedures.
- Participates in admissions, discharges, transfers, and placement of residents.
- Documents information on the resident’s chart, including pertinent clinical information.
- Provides personal care to residents, assists with meals, and other aspects of their care.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
