About The Position
Inova Loudoun ED is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a part-time days/mids position. The LPN provides direct patient care using the nursing process under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, advanced practice provider, or licensed physician, and collaborates with the registered professional nurse and broader healthcare team to meet patients’ needs.
Requirements
- Vocational or technical diploma in practical nursing.
- Licensed Practical Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- No prior experience required.

- One year of experience as an LPN or Medical Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, advanced practice provider, or licensed physician.
- Collaborate with the Registered Professional Nurse on the execution of patient plans.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for patients’ clinical, emotional, ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs.
- Monitor and report patients’ progress toward expected outcomes and deviations to a registered professional nurse, advanced practice provider, or licensed physician.
- Document patient care activities according to documentation standards and assist healthcare team members with documentation.
- Report changes in patient condition in a timely manner to the registered professional nurse, advanced practice provider, or licensed physician and appropriate healthcare team members.
- Delegate appropriate patient care activities to clinical technicians or emergency medical technicians.
- Evaluate and maintain the patient care environment to promote safety.
- Administer prescribed medications, therapies, and treatments according to practical nursing standards.
- Assist with patient education and discharge planning under the direction of the registered professional nurse, advanced practice provider, or licensed physician.
