About The Position

Sentara Leigh Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join its high-volume, fast-paced Emergency Department in Norfolk, Virginia. The department has more than 40 beds and serves over 100,000 patient visits annually, with multiple treatment areas offering varied clinical exposure. The role is full-time, 36 hours per week, with second- or third-shift schedules available. The listed schedules are 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. Staff work every third weekend and participate in a required holiday rotation. The LPN provides basic nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP), within the scope of practice established by State Boards of Nursing. The LPN is an essential member of the healthcare team, providing patient care and supporting nurses and physicians in delivering comprehensive medical services. The position calls for a detail-oriented, compassionate nurse able to handle physically demanding tasks. Experienced LPNs and new graduates are encouraged to apply; students completing an accredited nursing program or working toward practical nurse licensure may also be considered. Sentara Leigh Hospital is a 274-bed acute care facility in Norfolk, Virginia. It is Magnet-recognized for nursing excellence and an accredited Primary Stroke Center, and includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital. The hospital provides services in orthopedic and spine care, heart and vascular care, maternity care, general surgery, rehabilitation, and home care. It is also home to the region’s only 24-hour hyperbaric oxygen program. The full-time hourly base pay range is $28.57–$43.04. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonuses. Requirements

Degree or diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing is required; students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered.
Licensed Practical Nurse license is required; students in the process of obtaining a Practical Nurse license may be considered.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
Must be detail-oriented and compassionate and able to handle physically demanding tasks.
Work every third weekend and participate in the required holiday rotation.

Nice To Haves

Prior LPN experience is preferred.
Emergency Department experience is preferred.
Related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or medical/surgical experience is encouraged.
NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS certifications are preferred.
