About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) provides direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the LPN supports urgent and emergent patient care, helping ensure patient safety, rapid response, and quality outcomes.

Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. Its network includes Central Maine Medical Center, a 250-bed not-for-profit regional referral hospital, as well as Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. The organization is also home to the Maine College of Health Professions.

This is a full-time night position, scheduled 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. in 12-hour shifts. The stated pay range is $27.00 to $30.75 per hour. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply and are discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) licensure.
• IV certification and Blood Withdrawal (BW) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Deliver bedside care in a high-volume emergency setting.
• Monitor vital signs, patient condition, and changes in acuity.
• Assist with medication administration, IV therapy, and blood draws.
• Support trauma care, triage, and emergency interventions.
• Collaborate with registered nurses, physicians, and care teams.
• Ensure patient safety, infection control, and adherence to emergency department protocols.
• Document care in EMR/EHR systems.
• Communicate changes in patient condition quickly and accurately.
