About The Position

Geisinger Convenient Care is a walk-in clinic providing convenient healthcare for family needs, including physicals, immunizations, and treatment for common illnesses and minor health issues. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides primary clinical support to the provider, patients, and their families in diagnosing and treating conditions. The role includes collecting and documenting patient information, providing direct clinical care as directed, assisting with procedures and diagnostic examinations, and supporting continuity and quality of care. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. This is a per diem flex/additional job opportunity. Typical schedule opportunities include Monday through Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 7:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Requirements

• Graduate from a specialty training program in nursing.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Skills in communication, computer literacy, customer service, multitasking, and teamwork.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs; provide the provider with a basic medical database and prepare patients for examinations.
• Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
• Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
• Assist the provider with minor surgical diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork.
• Carry out and document ongoing patient communication, prioritize communication to the provider, and respond to patient questions and requests as directed.
• Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
• Clean and prepare examination and treatment rooms between cases, maintaining asepsis and ensuring instruments and equipment are available and patients are prepared.
• Promote a clean environment and meet qualifications for caring for patients in the assigned clinical area and age range.
• Comply with job-specific obligations and organizational policies and procedures.
