About The Position

Join Jenkins County Medical Center as a full time Licensed Practical Nurse and become part of a team committed to compassionate, patient centered care. The LPN provides direct and indirect patient care in the Med Surgical floor or Emergency Department. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Acts as a clinical leader across Med Surg and Emergency Department.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program
  • Current LPN license in the State of Georgia
  • Current BLS certification
  • Emergency room: 1 year (Required)
  • Maintains professional appearance and adheres to dress code.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with patients, families, and staff.
  • Participates in required education, training, and meetings.
  • Maintains professional relationships with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Supports departmental goals and quality initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year work experience as an LPN in acute care setting preferred
  • CPI training to be completed within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the continual delivery of high-quality nursing care.
  • Implement nursing practices to support patient care and facility improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and facility policies.
  • Promote a collaborative team-oriented work environment.
  • Coordinate daily unit operations, delegate patient care, and provide formal/informal leadership to nursing staff.
  • Provide direct clinical care in both Med Surg unit and the Emergency Department, often in the same shift.
  • Manage admissions, discharges, and treatments for acute conditions and stabilize patients for transfer.
  • Use high level nursing judgement to manage patient care, including triaging in the emergency department.
  • Act as a patient advocate, explaining procedures to patients and families, and maintaining a high standard of compassionate care.
  • Administers and monitors medication in accordance with physicians’ orders.
  • Evaluates patient progress and reports changes in condition in the CPSI charting system.
  • Communicates with physicians about changes in patient’s status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies.
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation in the medical record.
  • Respond appropriately in high stress and fast paced environments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
