This position may provide direct nursing care to residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by licensed practical/vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures. The role follows the nursing model to promote holistic care for residents, ensures policies and procedures are complied with, and participates in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers. The nurse assesses changes in resident status, notifies physicians and families, transcribes physician orders, prepares and administers medications, performs wound treatments, and schedules follow-up appointments and transportation. This role provides nursing leadership, direct care skills, and performs rounds to ensure resident needs and staff duties are met. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team is essential for holistic resident care. The nurse participates in management team meetings, may assist in evaluating work performance, and reports concerns or complaints. They also participate in end-of-life care, ensure adequate stock of supplies, and initiate/update care plans. Promoting teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication is key. The nurse participates in survey processes and QAPI activities, and ensures infection control principles are followed.
