This position may provide direct nursing care to residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by licensed practical/vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures. The role involves promoting holistic care for residents, ensuring compliance with policies, participating in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers, assessing changes in resident status, and transcribing physician orders. The nurse will prepare and administer medications, perform wound treatments, schedule follow-up appointments, and provide direct care skills such as colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, and IV administration. The position also includes rounds to ensure resident needs are met, collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, participation in management meetings, and potentially assisting in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. The role requires reporting incidents, participating in end-of-life care, ensuring adequate supplies, and updating care plans. Additionally, the nurse will promote teamwork, participate in surveys and QAPI activities, and ensure infection control principles are followed. The role also emphasizes treating residents with dignity and respect, promoting resident rights, maintaining a culture of compliance, adhering to safety and hygiene measures, and protecting protected health information.
