This is a part-time wage position at Bland Correctional Center, limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30. Wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This position offers no state benefits. The role involves providing nursing care within adult institutions by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating institutional patients per the standards of practice. This includes services such as 24-hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life supporting/emergency care. The nurse will document all pertinent information into the health record while practicing confidentiality and interfacing with other departments as needed. Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department. The goal is to provide evidence-based nursing care and promote continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing.
