About The Position

This position is a permanent full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role within the Rural Health department. The LPN will be responsible for providing professional and non-professional nursing services according to established standards, policies, and procedures. This role involves direct patient care functions, including obtaining vital signs, administering medications, assisting providers with exams and procedures, and maintaining accurate electronic health records. The position offers on-the-job training and the opportunity to cross-train in multiple locations and specialties within FMC affiliated Rural Health Clinics and Specialty clinics. It is a day shift, clinic schedule position.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a course for LPN.
  • Must be licensed in the state of Louisiana.
  • CPR certified.
  • No experience necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Interpersonal skills and compassion
  • Analyzing information, critical thinking, and problem solving
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and record vital signs, assessments, chief complaints, medical history, height/weight, etc. as appropriate
  • Perform basic clinical procedures such as wound dressing, specimen collection, point of care testing, EKGs, etc. (as trained)
  • Administer and record all medications and treatments based on provider orders accurately using proper procedures
  • Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner
  • Assist providers with exams, minor procedures, and urgent care needs
  • Prepare, stock, and sterilize exam rooms and clinical equipment
  • Communicate test instructions and follow-up plans to patients clearly and effectively
  • Assist with patient outreach for lab results, chronic disease follow-up, and preventative-care reminders
  • Collaborate with the care team to ensure timely documentation and quality care delivery
  • Accurately document all patient interactions, procedures, medications, and communications in the Electronic Health Record
  • Follow RHC regulations, safety protocols, and infection control standards
  • Monitor and maintain clinic supplies and equipment usage. Notifies appropriate departments to replenish stock, as necessary.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain knowledge regarding use of defibrillators, holter monitors, etc.
  • Perform and documents quality controls daily
  • Uphold HIPAA and patient privacy standards
  • Provide basic health education, medication instructions, and lifestyle guidelines within skill level and training
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
  • Assists with diabetic foot care, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
