Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program
  • Must have a valid LPN license in PA

Responsibilities

  • Makes copies of all sheets needed for hospital transfer. Returns chart to wing in proper order.
  • Fills and distributes orders from weekly supply list for “paperwork” materials for unit assigned and supervisor’s office.
  • Checks newly admitted resident’s charts for completeness.
  • Completes possession checklist for new admissions and marks their possessions. Adds new resident’s name to bath list, fire drill paper, foot doctor list, call-bell system list, doctors progress notes list and weekly vital signs list. Checks and records weekly and monthly blood pressure and weights. Maintains a list of all residents on weekly vitals, including new admits and re-admits who are weighed weekly.
  • File nurse aide flow sheets and restorative nursing sheets in charts on monthly basis. Also checks flow sheets to make sure all areas are initialed accordingly. Adds % eaten if not on flow sheets.
  • Prepares monthly forms for nursing, such as bath lists, TPR, and blood pressures and updates list as required.
  • Print nurse aide flow sheets are to be distributed to the units on first day of each month.
  • Faxes doctor obtains faxed orders, and faxes to pharmacy as needed in accordance with procedures.
  • Types new fire bell list, call-bell list, meal consumptions sheets and nursing assignment sheets, and keeps them updated. Fills in resident fluid needs and makes up meal % lists.
  • Position responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime and evening or weekend hours to meet the facility’s needs.
  • Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Director of Nursing and or the Administrator
