About The Position
This position is responsible for providing direct patient care, ongoing education and reinforcement of care plans, and providing general support in an ambulatory setting under the direction or supervision of the patient’s physician or LIP/RN designee. The role requires providing services to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individuals served. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant will assist the registered nurse and/or provider through data collection concerning the physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions of patients according to practice standards and institutional policy/procedure. They will organize and prioritize nursing care activities considering the needs of the patients and the interdisciplinary team, and implement age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient’s needs as directed by the registered nurse/provider. The role also involves assisting in evaluating the effectiveness of care given in progressing patients toward desired outcomes, providing ongoing education and reinforcement of care plans, and ensuring a safe environment and safe delivery of care. The position also assumes responsibility for professional development of self and contributes to and assists with the professional development of others, demonstrating teamwork in the delivery of patient care. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program (for LPN)
- None Required (for LPN experience)
- Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to onboarding.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required (for LPN)
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (for Medical Assistant)
- None required (for Medical Assistant experience)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required (for Medical Assistant)
- Currently enrolled or have completion of a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and/or hold a current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), the AMT (American Medical Technologists), NAHP (The National Association of Healthcare Professions), the ARMA (American Registry of Medical Assistants), or the NHA (National Healthcare Association).
- Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months from the date of hire.
Responsibilities
