About The Position
This position involves working with a diverse patient population in primary care settings, which include Family Medicine and Internal Medicine. Patient age ranges include: Family Medicine: Birth to Geriatric; Internal Medicine: 18+ to Geriatric. Common illnesses treated include chronic pain, diabetes, thyroid disorders, weight management, upper respiratory infections (URI), urinary tract infections (UTI), annual physicals, Medicare physicals, well-woman exams, dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, depression, and anxiety. Some providers may perform minor procedures, including IUD removal/insertion, Nexplanon insertion/removal, toenail removal, and incision & drainage (I&D). Staff may be required to assist during these procedures.
Requirements
- LPN: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing; must hold a valid RN South Dakota license.
- MA: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies.
- LPN: Basic Life Support (BLS).
- MA: Basic Life Support (BLS); Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification must be issued by AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or AMCA.
- Experience with EPIC in an ambulatory clinic is required.
- LPN: Experience in primary care is highly preferred.
- LPN: Experience starting IVs is strongly preferred.
- Medical Assistant: Experience in rooming patients, familiarity with ambulatory EPIC systems, and skills including injections, EKG administration, and point-of-care testing.
Responsibilities
- Assist during minor procedures such as IUD removal/insertion, Nexplanon insertion/removal, toenail removal, and incision & drainage (I&D).
- Occasional floating to other areas may be required depending on staffing needs.
