About The Position

Sentara Health is currently hiring for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Rehabilitation Unit. This is a Part-Time, Nights position. The Inpatient Rehab (IPR) is an 8-bed unit specializing in providing patients with additional rehabilitation needs for 2-3 weeks when they are not independent enough to go home but do not require a skilled nursing facility. The team works closely with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy teams. The unit enjoys watching patients progress to going home, which is rewarding. The patient population includes, but is not limited to, stroke, spinal cord injury, patients requiring amputation, or other orthopedic patients needing more therapy after being medically cleared from the hospital. A single physician oversees and runs the IPR unit, personally selecting appropriate patients who will thrive on the unit. The physician is engaged with the nursing team and easily accessible for all patient needs to enhance patient care and nursing workflow. The IPR team of nurses works closely together, as well as with the 3 West ortho team.

Requirements

  • LPN certification/diploma
  • VA LPN license in good standing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced LPN preferred.
  • Rehab experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic nursing care under the supervision of an RN or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in the clinical setting, within the scope of practice dictated by the State Boards of Nursing.
  • Is an essential member of the healthcare team offering patient care and supporting higher level nurses and physicians in delivering comprehensive medical services.
