About The Position

Essential HealthCare Solutions, LLC is seeking Florida-licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide on-site medical care at employee shelters during hurricane and severe-weather events in Southwest Florida. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), LPNs will deliver basic nursing care to crews and emergency personnel. This is an on-call, activation-based position offering meaningful disaster-response experience and flexible, well-compensated deployments.

Requirements

Active, unencumbered Florida LPN license
Current BLS certification
Ability to pass a background screening
Availability to deploy on short notice and work extended 12-hour shifts in shelter/field conditions
Comfort working as part of an RN-led team in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment

Nice To Haves

Emergency, long-term care, shelter, or disaster-response experience
IV/medication administration per FL scope
ICS/FEMA training

Responsibilities

Provide basic nursing care to shelter occupants under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Administer treatments and medications within the LPN scope of practice as directed.
Deliver first aid, monitor vital signs, and manage minor illnesses and injuries.
Collect clinical data and assist the RN with screenings, monitoring, and referrals to urgent care, hospital, or EMS.
Respond to on-site medical incidents and provide nursing care within scope, supporting the RN until EMS assumes care.
Monitor for heat illness, dehydration, fatigue, infectious-disease concerns, and signs of stress.
Implement infection-prevention practices and recommend isolation or mitigation measures when appropriate.
Assist with setup of the shelter medical station and maintain medical-supply inventory.
Maintain accurate documentation, incident notes, and supply/usage records.
Escalate serious incidents promptly to the RN and management.
