About The Position

Provides a variety of practical nursing care, and performs related technical work; may serve as "in charge" or team leader of assigned intermediate care patients in a ward or other patient care unit or a small facility on the evening or night shift; may supervise para-medical assistants and other unlicensed personnel; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • A valid license to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Hawaii.
  • ONE (1) YEAR of progressively responsible work experience as a (1) licensed practical nurse, (2) licensed vocational nurse, or (3) registered nurse, in performing a variety of personal care, nursing care and related technical work under the direction of a higher level licensed practical nurse, registered nurse or a licensed physician, and which required the knowledge of and ability to apply practical nursing principles and practices comparable in scope and difficulty to the Level I in State service.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is required within the first three months of employment.
  • Must not have engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.
  • Must not have been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
  • Must not have been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.
  • Must not have been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
  • Subject to drug screening.
  • Subject to an intensive background check.
