Licensed Practical Nurse - Omaha Correctional Center
About The Position
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to perform patient care in a clinic or hospital setting within a correctional institution. This role involves administering medications, transcribing and carrying out doctor's orders, assessing patients using protocols, triaging, and responding to emergencies. The position also includes assisting in moving inmate patients and assisting with inventory and ordering of supplies and medications. The NDCS employs nearly 2,300 team members and focuses on inmate programming, education, physical and behavioral healthcare, and re-entry services.
Requirements
- A current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Nebraska is required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Will complete four to eight weeks of on the job training.
- Must submit to background security check.
- Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical examination and a drug test.
- Must successfully complete the fully paid NDCS Pre-service Training Program.
