About The Position

Pathways to Life, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Outpatient Therapist to join our Nags Head team. The Outpatient Therapist provides individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. This position maintains an outpatient therapy caseload and completes Diagnostic and Comprehensive Clinical Assessments for members entering services or being reevaluated for continued care. The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, organized, responsive, and committed to providing high-quality, person-centered behavioral health services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, clinical psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field.
  • Active full or associate-level clinical license in North Carolina, such as LCSW, LCSWA, LCMHC, LCMHCA, or another qualifying behavioral health license.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Ability to provide individual, family, and group therapy within the scope of professional licensure.
  • Strong clinical documentation and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet firm documentation deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, HIPAA, professional ethics, and clinical boundaries.
  • Maintain active North Carolina clinical licensure throughout employment.
  • Complete all required agency training and professional development.
  • Be able to regularly walk, stand, or stoop.
  • Be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull objects as required.
  • Be prepared to provide services in office, community, or school settings when clinically appropriate.
  • Be able to respond safely and appropriately during crisis situations.
  • Maintain schedule flexibility, which may occasionally include evening or weekend availability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, young adults, and families.
  • Experience completing Comprehensive Clinical Assessments and Diagnostic Assessments.
  • Experience developing Person-Centered Plans and completing authorization or reauthorization documentation.
  • Experience providing crisis assessments and interventions.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • Experience working with multicultural populations and multidisciplinary treatment teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy based on each member’s clinical needs and treatment goals.
  • Maintain an assigned outpatient therapy caseload.
  • Complete Diagnostic Assessments, Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, reassessments, and other clinical evaluations.
  • Develop and update Person-Centered Plans and treatment goals in collaboration with members, families, and treatment teams.
  • Submit completed assessments for review within 48 hours and make requested corrections within 24 hours.
  • Complete accurate, clinically appropriate service notes for each therapy session within agency timelines.
  • Assist with authorization and reauthorization requests and ensure required clinical information is complete.
  • Maintain accurate tracking information related to assessments, treatment plans, authorizations, and service delivery.
  • Coordinate care with families, schools, medical providers, behavioral health professionals, and other community supports.
  • Support treatment teams in developing appropriate clinical goals and coordinated interventions.
  • Provide crisis assessments and intervention when needed.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential clinical records.
  • Follow HIPAA requirements, professional ethical standards, agency policies, and applicable state and payer requirements.
  • Maintain active professional licensure and complete all required continuing education.
  • Participate in supervision, clinical meetings, training, quality-improvement activities, and accreditation-related responsibilities.
  • Remain flexible and responsive to changes in assessment and therapy schedules.
