About The Position

Responsible for dispensing spectacles and other optical products to adults and children using prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. Advises and assists patients with lenses and spectacle frames, including choices related to style, weight, and color. The role verifies prescription and order information, supports members with product selection and eyeglass adjustments, and provides service in person and over the phone. It also includes processing payments, maintaining order records, supporting Optical Manager opening and closing procedures, and following company policies, including privacy requirements.

Requirements

Must hold an active, current license to work as an optician in the state of employment.
Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail are required.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.
Physical requirements include frequently moving about on hard surfaces; occasionally bending, handling, pulling, reaching, or stooping; frequently lifting objects up to 50 pounds; and potentially lifting or moving heavier or awkward objects with assistance.
Must use optical hand tools to adjust and repair eyeglasses, including inserting and removing nose pads and small screws.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of optical products and business practices is preferred.
A high school diploma, college degree, and/or experience in big-box wholesale, retail, or optical settings is preferred.
Open shift availability is required for full-time positions; the posting does not specify that this part-time position requires it.

Responsibilities

Verify order data entry and compare prescriptions with the original prescriptions provided by doctors to ensure system information is accurate.
Complete order filing procedures and file orders under the correct store ABC system.
Provide excellent member service in person and over the phone to support sales.
Explain procedures included under the exam fee clearly and honestly while maintaining a pleasant demeanor.
Take measurements, ensure frame selection is appropriate for prescription power, read prescriptions on a lensometer, notify members when products are ready, and update order statuses in the system.
Handle money-related transactions and ensure accurate funds are collected and payments are made at the point of service.
Work toward sales and metric goals by educating patients about available products and recommending products that address their visual needs.
Engage with members in front of Optical during downtime.
Follow privacy and confidential or proprietary company policies and procedures, including HIPAA requirements.
Help members with eyeglass adjustments and repairs.
Assist the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures at the beginning and end of shifts.
Maintain club policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties.
Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
Support club service and operating standards, including safe and positive member experiences, teamwork, and clean, organized, accurately signed and stocked areas.
