About The Position

The Licensed Clinical Therapist (LCT) works in a Department of Workforce Services (DWS) employment center, applying the philosophy that goal-directed activities and employment can improve mental health. The role combines clinical work and case management, with an ongoing focus on interventions that help customers increase their level of functioning and access resources. The position may include statewide clinical case management support and in-state travel to serve customers and collaborate with DWS staff and community partners. The LCT conducts diagnostic evaluations to identify cultural, social, environmental, psychological, behavioral, and situational barriers to customers’ participation in DWS services. Evaluations may include children when their mental health issues affect a parent’s participation. The therapist helps customers access community clinical services and monitors progress; provides individual, family, and group therapy as needed to FEP customers; and consults with customers, DWS staff, and outside professionals on clinical and general approaches to resolving barriers. The position also performs case management support for clinicians statewide, including administering substance abuse assessment questionnaires through an online chat system, serving as LCT of the Day through instant messaging, updating electronic case files, and monitoring and documenting customer progress and involvement with interventions. The LCT develops psychoeducational group presentations, acts as a liaison between DWS and community providers, and trains employment center staff on LCT services, referrals, mental health information, and behavioral patterns that may indicate mental health disorders. The role may also assist with in-service training for LCTs to meet continuing education requirements. Applicants should be comfortable shifting among varied responsibilities, have strong executive functioning and communication skills, and be able to work independently while recognizing when to seek support. The position is based at 5735 S Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah, and is listed as hybrid. A criminal history check is required. The position may be underfilled by a qualified associate-level clinician or Certified Social Worker who agrees to obtain full clinical licensure within DWS-established time frames; continued employment in that arrangement depends on attaining full clinical licensure.
