About The Position

Valley View Hospital is seeking a full-time Licensed Clinical Social Worker to join its Medical Oncology department at the Calaway Young Cancer Center, an independent, community-based hospital cancer center in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The center provides advanced cancer treatment through a collaborative approach with primary care physicians, surgeons, and other medical specialists. Oncology experience is strongly preferred. The social worker provides psychosocial consultations and brief counseling to hospital patients referred by physicians or requested by patients or families, and psychosocial support and brief counseling to family members of hospitalized patients. The role also participates in care planning and complex discharge planning when requested by a physician, may supervise social workers when requested by the MSW and program director, and assesses gaps in community psychosocial services with recommendations to Clinical Administration. The role requires a master's degree in social work from an accredited Council of Social Work Education program and state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Candidates need five years of post-MSW experience in mental health, medical social work, physician consultations, and supervision of other social workers. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available. The stated salary range is $32.68–$48.06 per hour, with entry salary depending on education, skill set, and experience.

Requirements

Master's degree in social work from an accredited Council of Social Work Education program.
State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Five years of post-MSW experience in mental health, medical social work, consultations to physicians, and supervision of other social workers.
Skills in counseling and consultations to physicians and hospital staff.

Responsibilities

Provide psychosocial consultations and brief counseling to Valley View Hospital patients referred by physicians or requested by patients or families.
Provide psychosocial support and brief counseling for family members of hospitalized patients.
Participate in care planning and complex discharge planning when requested by a physician.
Supervise social workers when requested by the MSW and their program director.
Assess gaps in community psychosocial services and make recommendations to Clinical Administration.
Identify patient needs and refer patients to appropriate support, including assistance for emotional distress, financial concerns, transportation, and lodging.
