About The Position

This position is for a Licensed Certified Social Worker on a 10-bed inpatient Geropsych unit. The role involves assessing client needs through medical and behavioral health history evaluation, performing mental health assessments including social history, and obtaining/interpreting laboratory and radiological testing as needed. The social worker will collaborate with the Psychiatrist/Medical Director to develop treatment plans, provide counseling and referrals for medical and behavioral health needs, and maintain client records, including referral and follow-up information. The position also includes participation in quality assurance activities, staff in-services, and continuing education to maintain professional expertise and stay updated on new treatments. Adherence to minimum medical guidelines for federally funded programs is required. This is a Safety Sensitive Position under Act 593 of the State of Arkansas, meaning employees must not be under the influence of Marijuana due to the potential threat to patients.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in social work with a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Two-years (3,000 hours) postmaster's LCSW supervised social work experience.
  • Successful completion of the Board-approved examination.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with substance use disorder a plus.
  • LMSW and PLMSW candidates would be considered based on work history and comparable experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess client's needs by obtaining and/or evaluating a medical and behavioral health history.
  • Perform appropriate mental health assessment including social history.
  • Obtain laboratory test as needed.
  • Obtain and interpret any radiological testing.
  • Work with the Psychiatrist/Medical Director to develop a treatment plan for the client.
  • Provide counseling and instructions and/or appropriate referrals about medical and behavioral health needs.
  • Refer client to other sources of health care or community referrals as needed.
  • Conduct/participate in medical education sessions for professional community as well as client groups as needed.
  • Maintains and review client records including referral and follow-up.
  • Participate in quality assurance components of the clinic (i.e. Chart audits, safety core measures, etc).
  • Conduct and participate in staff in services as needed.
  • Maintains professional expertise thru continued education.
  • Keep abreast of new information and treatments by reviewing journals, clearinghouse information, newsletters, and periodicals.
  • Adhere to the minimum medical guidelines for federally funded programs.
