About The Position

Common Ground Genesee Mobile Crisis Services (GMCS) is seeking an LBSW or LLBSW. This role involves providing immediate in-person support to individuals experiencing mental health crises and emotional distress. The Case Manager will assist individuals and families with resources and services, de-escalate crisis situations, and provide appropriate interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of clients. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a human service field and professional licensure in the State of Michigan (LLBSW or LBSW). A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are also necessary. A minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with mental health, substance use, and/or developmental disabilities is required, as is experience in crisis intervention or emergency mental health services. Experience with a broad range of age groups and disabilities, including children, and with persons with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder is also needed. Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, crisis assessment, and intervention techniques is essential.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in human service field
• Professional licensure in the State of Michigan (LLBSW or LBSW)
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Minimum of one (1) year experience working with people with mental health, substance use and/or developmental disabilities
• Experience working in crisis intervention or emergency mental health services
• Experience with broad range of age groups and disabilities, including children
• Experience with persons with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder
• Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, crisis assessment, and intervention techniques

Nice To Haves

• Certification in/or willing to obtain a development plan with MCBAP for the following (within 30 days of hire): CADC - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor
• Meets criteria as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) defined by the State of Michigan
• Meets criteria as a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) OR Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) defined by the State of Michigan

Responsibilities

• Assess crisis situation and person/family’s needs
• Provide active crisis intervention that is welcoming, trauma-informed, brief, and solution-focused to adults/children presenting with emergent or urgent need
• Provide referrals, arrange for psychiatric evaluations, facilitate authorization for hospitalization if unable to successfully divert, and inter- and intra-agency services
• Facilitate transition to appropriate aftercare services and assist with implementation of individual recovery plans and coordination of natural supports
• Act as an advocate for the needs and rights of every person/family including with service providers and community agents
