About The Position

This 310T Licensed Mechanic/Technician (T4) performs major and technically difficult diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls/rebuilds in a timely manner, ensuring quality, time standards, customer expectations, cost guidelines, and reliability goals are met. The 310T Licensed Mechanic/Technician (T4) works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and mentors other Ryder technicians on a regular basis. The 310T Licensed Mechanic/Technician (T4) provides the highest level of experience and expertise in vehicle diagnostics and repair. The position also plays a key role in the leadership, development, and training of other grade technicians. The 310T Licensed Mechanic/Technician (T4) may specialize in areas such as refrigeration, electronics, exhaust systems, etc., and should possess a combination of extensive vehicle transportation experience, ASE certifications, and/or multiple Ryder Qualifications.

  • Vocational or Technical Certification preferred
  • Basic tools, required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work
  • Diagnostics and repairs, including AC, electrical systems,
  • Advanced skilled level repairs to include some major engine repairs, diesel after treatment or automotive fuel injection repairs required
  • Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. advanced required.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred
  • All other certification as required by location, required
  • Safety Sensitive Non-Regulated Tech
  • DOT Regulated Regulated Tech
  • All applicants must have valid legal authorization to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties upon Tire and Wheel, Brakes-Air, Brakes-Hydraulic, A/C, Heater & Refrigeration, Cargo Handling/Transfer, Liftgates, Cranking System: (Electrical), Lighting System, Electrical Accessories, Clutch, Cooling Systems, Drive Axles, Drive Line, Diesel and Gas Engines - All Engines, Fuel Systems, Steering and Non-Driven Axles, Suspension-Chassis And Cab, Vehicle Coupling System (PM) etc.
  • Coaches/mentors other level technicians
  • Advise shop management and other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.
  • Performs facility maintenance duties.
  • Utilizes key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available.
  • Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, dot, mot)
  • Other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to service island support.
