About The Position

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is seeking qualified individuals for a part-time, temporary, non-benefited Library Specialist position. This role serves at the discretion of the department director and is scheduled for 19 hours per week, with occasional weekend and evening hours. The position is part of the Library Outreach Team and may involve working aboard the Discovery Library Bookmobile, assisting with program planning, preparation, organization, and supporting the evaluation and acquisition of library materials. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and community engagement, enjoying connecting with people and providing exceptional library services. Responsibilities include performing technical and clerical library functions such as circulation, customer service, and support for specialized library programs.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED
• 2 years of general library experience
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Nice To Haves

• Recent experience working in a public library environment.
• Experience using integrated library systems (ILS) or other automated library systems.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of technical and clerical library functions, including circulation and customer service.
• Provide support for specialized library programs.
• Deliver library programs and services throughout the community as a member of the Library Outreach Team.
• Provide services aboard the Discovery Library Bookmobile.
• Assist with the planning, preparation, and organization of library programs.
• Support the evaluation and acquisition of library materials and services using established library standards, procedures, and techniques.
