About The Position

This is a 1.0 FTE position, working 187 days, located at Dorothy Hamm Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves providing support to teachers and students in general and special education classrooms. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player, willing to work under teacher direction and supervision, and able to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and children.

Requirements

• Experience working with students with special needs.
• Experience working in an elementary school setting.
• Clear understanding of the educational needs of special education and general education students, which includes, but not limited to, assistance with physical, or sensory needs.
• Must be reliable, dependable and flexible.
• Assistants must meet the requirements of the NCLB and Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) at the time of hire.
• A high school diploma, and An Associate Degree or two years of college study.
• At least 60 semester hours OR A score of at least 455 on the Parapro Test.
