About The Position

Human Resources announces a 1.0 FTE vacancy, grade A-09, 187 days, located at Abingdon Elementary School. This role involves providing support to teachers and students in both general and special education classrooms. The position requires effective communication with parents and a collaborative approach to teamwork. The assistant will work under the direction and supervision of a teacher and must be able to interact effectively with staff, parents, and children.

Requirements

• Experience working with students with special needs.
• Experience working in a classroom setting.
• Clear understanding of the educational needs of special education and general education students, which includes, but not limited to, assistance with physical, or sensory needs.
• Must be reliable, dependable and flexible.
• Assistants must meet the requirements of the NCLB and Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) at the time of hire.
• A high school diploma, and an associate degree or two years of college study.
• At least 60 semester hours OR A score of at least 455 on the Parapro Test.
