About The Position

Provides paraprofessional library assistance to customers utilizing standard library practices. Essential Job Functions ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential functions are fundamental job duties. Provides a full range of library public access services. Assists customers in person or on the telephone; provides general information regarding library services and activities to customers. Provides circulation services including checking out materials, checking in materials and registering new borrowers. Assists library customers in use of library services such as locating materials, use of library finding tools and the use of public computers, to include office software programs and internet searching. Facilitates receiving, checking in and shelving library materials and transfer of materials among libraries. Processes item requests received for holds. Maintains library collections according to library procedures. Creates displays for library. Maintains records required by library administration. Ensures that the library is clean and tidy including spot cleaning windows, doors, flooring, and other areas as needed. Assists with program facilitation for various audiences. May assist with library programs or events. May work at a Santa Rosa County library other than the assigned location. Interacts with the public in an effective and courteous manner. Must demonstrate commitment to our mission, vision, values and goals and represent the County in a professional, dignified manner at all times both in actions and appearance. May have a role in the County’s disaster preparation and/or disaster recovery efforts, as designated in the County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan; may be required to work before, during and/or after an emergency. Must be able to meet minimum attendance standards. Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a public library or in person customer support services.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Requires a valid driver license at the date of hire and maintain said license while employed in this position.
