Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Relevant customer service experience preferred.
  • Relevant cash handling experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Keyboard and typing skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to interact easily with staff and the public.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions.
  • Evening and weekend hours required.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to patron inquiries by phone and in person.
  • Shelve library materials and maintain shelf order.
  • Charge and discharge library materials using an automated system.
  • Receive, sort, and process delivery items.
  • Prepare items for the Hold Shelf.
  • Reroute circulation materials to other branches.
  • Register patrons and issue library cards.
  • Collect fines and fees.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, Staff Development Day, committee meetings, and training sessions.
  • Order supplies.
  • Process periodicals.
  • Process, mend, and clean books and/or AV items.
  • Order and receive library materials/check invoices.
  • Create records and change holdings using an automated system.
  • Process mail for the library system.
  • Perform database maintenance.
