About The Position

The Savitt Medical Library at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine seeks a collaborative and forward-thinking Librarian II to provide oversight in library technology, digital scholarship, and electronic resource management. This position plays a key role in advancing the library's mission to support education, research, and clinical work of the School of Medicine, while strengthening partnerships across the University, University Libraries, Renown Health, and future affiliates. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced librarian with expertise in library systems, research data services, and digital scholarship to shape the future of medical library services at Nevada's flagship university.

Requirements

• ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS equivalent or terminal degree.
• Three (3) years of experience managing and administering integrated library systems (ILS) and other automated library technologies in an academic library setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight for the administration, optimization, and continuous improvement of library technology systems, including Ex Libris platforms, library discovery services, authentication systems, creating and managing analytics dashboards, and administering resource assessment tools.
• Develop and advance research data services to support the organization, discovery, sharing, preservation, and stewardship of scholarly and research outputs utilizing authentication workflows and linking technologies.
• Promote researcher engagement with institutional repositories, including Dryad, ScholarWolf, to increase visibility, accessibility, compliance, and preservation of UNR School of Medicine scholarship.
• Collaborate with vendors and institutional partners to evaluate, manage, and streamline electronic resources supporting the Savitt Medical Library digital collections.
• Conduct assessments and enhancements of electronic resource collections through usage, performance, and user-needs analysis.
• Maintain the Savitt Medical Library website, LibGuides, and digital platforms including but not limited to Libby and Kanopy.
• Collaborate with public and technical services staff across the University Libraries to ensure accuracy and discoverability of metadata, holdings, and resource access points.
• Analyze usage metrics from Ex Libris catalog system and service data to inform collection management, planning, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Provide oversight of Ask-a-Librarian services as well as service request tracking systems.
• Strengthen engagement with library partners, including Renown Health and future affiliates, to ensure equitable access to library resources and services.
• Innovate research dissemination to advance digital scholarship and scholarly communication initiatives.
• Represent the Library through active participation with the University Libraries, School of Medicine, and other professional associations or committees.
• Offer teaching and instruction on digital library collections and services.
