About The Position

At the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, our mission is to administer the State’s highway safety grant program. Louisiana’s highway safety program is designed to reduce traffic crashes and the resulting deaths, injuries, and property damage. The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) is seeking an LHSC Program Coordinator to join our team – a proactive, forward-thinking team that moves our mission forward using focus and collaboration. This position will serve the LHSC as a Program Coordinator and be responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and monitoring the assigned behavioral traffic safety program designed to reduce motor vehicle deaths and injuries in the state. This position will play a key role in managing the full project lifecycle for all assigned subgrants and contracts and will assist and support these subgrants in implementing evidence-based and best practice countermeasures to reduce motor vehicle fatalities and related impacts. Requirements

• Five years of experience in highway safety-related programs, administrative services, law enforcement, or engineering; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of experience in highway safety-related programs, administrative services, law enforcement, or engineering; OR A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in highway safety-related programs, administrative services, law enforcement, or engineering; OR An advanced degree in business administration, public administration, public relations, criminal justice, law, engineering, or statistics plus one year of experience in highway safety-related programs, administrative services, law enforcement, or engineering.
• Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

• Serves as Program Coordinator for the assigned behavioral traffic safety subgrants and contracts.
• Manages full project lifecycle for all assigned subgrants and contracts and assists these subgrants in implementing evidence-based and best practice countermeasures to reduce motor vehicles fatalities and serious injuries and the related impacts.
• Reviews and processes subgrant reimbursement claims for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness.
• Researches and recommends best practices and effective behavioral traffic safety countermeasures for implementation in Louisiana.
• Coordinates with other State Highway Safety Offices, other traffic safety professionals and traffic safety advocates on new and emerging behavioral traffic safety issues and trends.
• Reviews all assigned annual subgrant applications for funding and makes programmatic and budgetary recommendations to LHSC executive staff.
• Serves as the LHSC expert for assigned behavioral traffic safety area and related issues, countermeasures, strategies, and assists with development of all related federal funding applications.
• Represents the LHSC on state task forces and committees.
