About The Position

Help students tell the story of their school. A yearbook becomes more than a collection of photographs. It captures the people, experiences, and moments that students will remember long after they leave Lakeside High School. The Yearbook Advisor helps students create something that reflects their school community and allows every student to see a part of themselves represented in its pages. This position is for a certificated staff member who enjoys helping students turn ideas into finished work. Through steady guidance, creative problem-solving, and attention to deadlines, the advisor will support students as they develop the yearbook’s theme, gather stories and photographs, design pages, and produce a lasting record of the school year.

Requirements

  • Current certificated employee of the Nine Mile Falls School District.
  • Ability to organize a long-term project and meet firm production deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students, staff, administrators, vendors, and community members.
  • Ability to use or learn the technology and publishing platform required for yearbook production.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience advising, designing, editing, or producing a school yearbook or similar publication.
  • Experience supporting student leadership and encouraging meaningful student participation.
  • Knowledge of photography, writing, editing, graphic design, or digital publishing.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to recruit and support a student team that reflects the Lakeside High School community.
  • Experience working with high school students.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and advise students interested in helping create the Lakeside High School yearbook.
  • Establish an organized yearbook production process that allows students to contribute meaningfully to the publication.
  • Guide students in selecting and applying an overall theme, visual style, and page design.
  • Help ensure that the completed yearbook represents the students, programs, activities, and culture of Lakeside High School.
  • Coordinate the collection of photographs, stories, captions, and other content from classrooms, clubs, athletics, activities, and school events.
  • Attend or arrange coverage of school activities outside the regular school day when needed to obtain yearbook content.
  • Teach and model responsible practices related to photography, writing, editing, attribution, copyright, student privacy, and appropriate publication content.
  • Design and format the yearbook using the tools and templates provided by the District’s contracted yearbook company.
  • Review student work and final page proofs for accuracy, quality, appropriateness, and completeness.
  • Maintain an organized production schedule and meet all publishing, submission, and printing deadlines.
  • Coordinate advertising collection and related records in accordance with District and ASB procedures.
  • Work with the ASB Manager to support yearbook ordering, sales, financial procedures, and distribution.
  • Communicate with students, staff, administrators, families, vendors, and community partners as necessary to complete the yearbook.
  • Meet regularly with participating students, particularly during the primary production period from January through May.
  • Perform other yearbook-related responsibilities consistent with the supplemental assignment.

Benefits

  • Stipend: $5,587–$7,263 for the 2026–2027 school year, depending upon applicable years of experience at Nine Mile Falls School District. Paid in accordance with the NMEA Collective Bargaining Agreement, Appendix B — Supplemental Salary Schedule, under Lakeside High School Annual Advisor.
