As an NDT Assistant, you help ensure critical infrastructure—including pipelines, pressure vessels, and structural steel—is safe and reliable. You work closely with certified NDT Technicians to inspect materials using methods such as X-ray, ultrasound, and dye testing without damaging the materials. The role involves traveling to job sites, sometimes early or overnight, including plants, pipelines, and industrial facilities. You help set up and prepare inspection equipment, assist with inspections by taking readings, holding sensors, or applying test materials under a technician’s guidance, follow safety procedures, and help document results and clean up after inspections. Work takes place outdoors or in industrial environments and can involve long periods on your feet and physically demanding tasks. This is an entry point to a career in NDT. With time, training, and certification, employees may advance to Level II or III NDT Technician, specialize in ultrasonic, radiographic, or magnetic particle testing, become a Team Lead or Regional Inspector, or move into Project Manager or QA/QC roles. PROtect supports employee growth through advancement paths, paid training and certification support, and travel and relocation opportunities.
