About The Position

South Central Bank, Inc. is seeking a Lender I for its Monroe County Market at the Scottsville location. The position originates, underwrites, and closes secured and unsecured consumer and agricultural/commercial loans in accordance with established lending objectives, policies, and procedures. The Lender I also establishes and maintains positive relationships with existing and prospective customers.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least one year of direct lending experience.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Three to five years of lending experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain current working knowledge of bank policies and procedures, federal and state lending regulations, loan processing, closing and post-closing functions, collection techniques, and compliance regulations.
• Establish prudent loan underwriting criteria in accordance with bank lending policies and procedures.
• Respond to applicant inquiries about loan application status and general bank lending policies and procedures.
• Collect required financial information in a timely manner to evaluate loan applications and make recommendations or decisions.
• Evaluate applicants’ creditworthiness and approve or decline loan submissions.
• Submit loan applications exceeding the lending limit to the appropriate loan committee for approval.
• Call on potential and existing customers outside the office two or three days a week to develop new business and retain current customers.
• Communicate with state and federal agencies, court officers, realtors, appraisers, credit bureaus, attorneys, and customers to obtain or provide information.
• Assist the collection team with delinquent loan collections when necessary.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Participate in community affairs where the bank’s visibility would be enhanced.
• Meet annual loan and deposit goals established by the Market President.
