About The Position

The Legislative Research Commission is hiring a nonpartisan Legislative Floor Assistant in its Legislative Services Department. The position requires neutrality in a politically charged environment and supports the Kentucky General Assembly. The role provides backup support on legislative office floors, as assigned, and involves interacting with constituents, legislators, lobbyists, and state agency personnel. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
No direct experience is needed; limited relevant and business experience and business knowledge are required, or equivalent academic training.
Basic computer skills with knowledge of Windows Office products, or demonstrated ability to learn Windows Office products.
Flexibility and willingness to locate to assigned areas as needed.
Strong verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide backup support on legislative office floors, as assigned.
Study and master resources related to the Legislative Assistant position.
Attend relevant trainings and complete in-office mentorship sessions.
Assist in ordering and producing legislative letters, citations, colonels, and admirals.
Interact with constituents, legislators, lobbyists, and state agency personnel.
Answer telephones, take accurate messages, and relay them to the appropriate individual or office.
Schedule tours, photos, and constituent visits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
