About The Position
The Maine Legislature’s Office of Policy and Legal Analysis, a nonpartisan staff office of the Legislative Council, is seeking applicants for a Legislative Analyst position. Employees in this position work in our Augusta office, are enthusiastic about supporting the important work of the Maine Legislature, and conduct themselves in a highly confidential, professional and nonpartisan manner.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (Master’s, JD, PhD or other advanced degree)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with committees and groups
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with the Maine legislative process
- Experience working in a nonpartisan capacity with a state or local legislative body or government agency
- Demonstrated knowledge of policy and legal issues related to taxation matters
Responsibilities
- Staffing legislative committees and study commissions
- Analyzing legislative policy and legal issues
- Conducting research
- Drafting legislation
- Preparing study reports
