About The Position

The Legislative Analyst provides research, tracking, and administrative support for legislative affairs and public policy activities supporting the federal client. Working under the direction of the Legislative Specialist, the analyst monitors legislative developments, maintains reporting tools, conducts policy research, prepares summaries and briefing materials, and supports Congressional correspondence and engagement activities. This position helps ensure timely awareness of legislative actions affecting cybersecurity and critical infrastructure security and resilience. This is a contingent position. Hiring for this role is dependent upon LMD Agency being awarded the associated government contract and receiving authorization to proceed. Requirements

  • Currently holds, or is able to obtain, DHS Fitness Determination.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of professional experience supporting legislative affairs, government relations, public policy, or related analytical functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to research legislation, regulations, and public policy issues.
  • Experience monitoring legislative and governmental activities at the federal, state, or local level.
  • Strong research, writing, editing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting a federal agency, Congressional office, government contractor, or public affairs organization.
  • Familiarity with Congress.gov or other legislative tracking and policy research tools.
  • Knowledge of the federal legislative process, Congressional committees, authorization and appropriations cycles, and government operations.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection, homeland security, or national security policy.
  • Experience maintaining document repositories and preparing executive-level briefing materials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and government stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor legislative activity within the U.S. Congress and state legislatures to identify legislation, hearings, and policy developments relevant to our federal client's mission.
  • Research and compile information on proposed legislation, regulations, executive actions, and public policy initiatives impacting cybersecurity and infrastructure security.
  • Assist in preparing concise summaries, briefing papers, and reports on legislative and policy developments.
  • Maintain trackers for Congressional reporting requirements, Congressional engagements, hearings, and legislative activities.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of Congressional correspondence, responses to inquiries, and related documentation.
  • Assist in producing weekly legislative reports identifying legislation of interest, Congressional activities, hearings, and public policy developments.
  • Support development of annual legislative reports summarizing Congressional activity, authorization and appropriations efforts, and legislative trends.
  • Monitor Congressional hearings, committee activities, and public policy events, and prepare meeting notes and summaries for internal distribution.
  • Conduct research and assemble background materials supporting Congressional testimony, Questions for the Record (QFRs), briefing books, and executive presentations.
  • Maintain and organize electronic repositories of Congressional testimony, correspondence, legislative products, and policy documents to ensure information is current and easily accessible.
  • Assist in responding to internal policy-related taskings and requests for information.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to collect information supporting legislative reports, briefings, and correspondence.
  • Support special projects related to legislative affairs, policy analysis, and government relations as assigned.
