2027 Legal Summer Internship Program
About The Position
UWM's 12-week internship program offers an immersive experience with around 200 interns, job shadowing, access to senior leaders, and extensive networking opportunities. The Legal and Compliance Summer Intern will play a vital role in supporting the legal and compliance teams at UWM. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in legal research, compliance analysis, and regulatory matters within the mortgage sector.
Requirements
- Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2027 or 2028 (current junior/senior status)
- The ability to work Monday-Friday, 40-hours a week, fully on-site in Pontiac, MI from May 17th - August 6th
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to thrive in a team environment
- A strong work ethic
- A drive to succeed
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on various regulatory topics affecting UWM’s operations.
- Assist in the review and drafting of compliance-related documents, policies, and procedures.
- Support the legal team in preparing materials for compliance audits and internal meetings.
- Help maintain and organize legal and compliance documentation and databases.
- Assist in the monitoring and analysis of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the mortgage industry.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on compliance strategies and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by members of the legal and compliance teams.
