About The Position

Banner Associates, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic individuals for their 2027 Summer Internship Program. This program offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience in engineering consulting services. Interns will be responsible for performing tasks that require the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures, including assisting engineers with various project duties. Opportunities are available in three main divisions: Civil Engineering, Water System & Wastewater Engineering, and Land Development/Site Development. In Civil Engineering, interns may work on municipal infrastructure, transportation projects (streets, highways, bridges), and land/site development (residential neighborhoods, commercial sites). In Water System & Wastewater Engineering, interns may assist with water supply, treatment, and distribution projects, as well as wastewater treatment and collection systems. The program aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience in engineering a better community.

Requirements

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering from an accredited program with at least one year of post-secondary education completed prior to the start of the internship.
• OR Pursuit of an Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Science Technology with at least one year of post-secondary education completed prior to the start of the internship.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior internship and/or related work experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performing tasks requiring the application of standard civil engineering techniques and procedures.
• Performing standard design of civil project work.
• Assisting engineers with various project duties.
• Assisting with source analysis and development, well fields, groundwater analysis, water treatment plant start-up, evaluation and design, ground storage reservoirs, water towers, pump stations, metering stations, and water distribution.
• Assisting with municipal, industrial, or agricultural wastewater treatment, treatment plant start-up, evaluation and design, wastewater collection, lift stations, forcemains, stabilization ponds, large diameter pipe, SCADA systems, facility planning/engineering reports and operation and maintenance manuals.
