About The Position

Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA) is seeking a dedicated Legal Services Project Manager (Pro Bono & Training) to join Legal Services State Support (State Support), a statewide legal services support program housed at MMLA that serves Minnesota's civil legal aid community. State Support plays a unique, non-direct-service role in Minnesota’s civil justice system by providing information, connections, and tools for legal aid organizations, pro bono partners, and the public. In this role, you will lead continuing legal education (CLE) and pro bono initiatives that support Minnesota’s civil legal aid community. State Support’s work focuses on the following areas: Educate the public about legal issues and improve client referrals to providers, primarily through www.LawHelpMN.org and the Legal Kiosk Project. Strengthening the advocate community through continuing legal education trainings, statewide conferences, and system-wide support Expanding access to free legal services, primarily through www.MNLegalAdvice.org.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of legal experience in legal services, public interest law, or a related systems-level role
  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to access to justice, including the belief that people should be able to understand and assert their legal rights, with experience making legal information accessible, clear, and usable, particularly for people navigating legal issues without representation
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects with strict deadlines
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Strong project management, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with learning and integrating new technologies into daily work
  • Juris Doctor degree

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Minnesota Legal Advice Online (MLAO) platform, including overseeing its functioning with vendor support, reviewing and logging questions, training/supporting/recruiting pro bono lawyers, closing unanswered questions, providing referrals, and compiling usage data.
  • Oversee the ProJusticeMN resource site and its planned successor platform, updating information and collaborating with partners like the MSBA to serve the pro bono community.
  • Lead programming for the biennial Statewide Legal Services Conference, including plenary and breakout sessions, with planning for the Oct. 13-15, 2027 conference beginning in late 2026.
  • Coordinate Continuing Legal Education (CLE) trainings and mini-conferences, identifying topics and presenters, and coordinating logistics.
  • Assist with additional duties as needed.
