About The Position

Kemper is seeking a Legal Office Manager to oversee the efficient operation of the house counsel office. This role involves supervising clerical staff, performing secretarial and/or paralegal functions, and ensuring smooth office operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite. This position offers a hybrid work schedule after an initial in-office training period.

Requirements

  • 5 years as a legal secretary and/or paralegal.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Ability to work well with office staff and provide work direction effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Legal Solutions or other legal software.
  • Typing at 50 WPM with 95% accuracy.
  • Above average organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Creative and independent thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of office procedures.
  • Strong composition, grammar, and spelling skills.
  • Ability to function efficiently amid constant interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in the personal injury field.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises clerical staff to ensure efficient operation of the house counsel operation.
  • Performs secretarial and/or paralegal functions as assigned.
  • Assists with hiring, training, and assessment of staff.
  • Assigns, directs, and monitors clerical workflow to ensure timely, accurate work.
  • Establishes a review system to measure the quality and quantity of work performed by clerical staff and provides reports to the Managing Attorney quarterly.
  • Addresses deficiencies as appropriate according to Company policy.
  • Establishes objectives for clerical staff to monitor performance and conducts timely performance evaluations and salary reviews.
  • Assists with projects, performs research, and other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures office calendar is maintained and updated with added appearances.
  • Responds to inquiries from insureds, claims personnel, opposing counsel, courts, and others.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
