About The Position

The CAMH Legal Office is seeking a full-time, permanent Legal Assistant to support the Clinical Legal Services team. This role involves providing legal advice and litigation services to CAMH clinical teams and administrators concerning mental health law. The Legal Assistant will support lawyers who represent CAMH and its clinicians in various legal proceedings, including before the Consent and Capacity Board, the Ontario Review Board, health regulatory Colleges, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. The practice also includes appellate advocacy at the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal. The successful candidate will proactively and independently manage a dynamic practice for multiple legal professionals, enhancing legal practice efficiency through a high level of support. This role requires superior multi-tasking, administrative, and communication skills, initiative, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent client service. Experience in health law is preferred. The Legal Assistant will collaborate closely with the Director of Legal Services (Clinical), lawyers, other staff on the Clinical Legal Services team, hospital administrative staff, physicians, allied health staff, clinical leadership, and personnel across various hospital departments.
