About The Position

The Legal Nurse Researcher reviews medical records, billing records, and case materials to help connect medical care, diagnoses, and treatment recommendations to the facts of a legal case. This role supports the development of life care plans, medical cost projections, and related reports by identifying relevant medical information and organizing it in a clear, accurate, and practical way. This role is a good fit for a clinically experienced professional who enjoys reviewing detailed medical records, researching medical information, and helping translate complex healthcare information into clear case support. The Legal Nurse Researcher works closely with life care planning professionals and internal team members to support accurate, evidence-based work for plaintiff and defense matters.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • 2+ yrs. of medical, clinical, or related healthcare experience
  • Experience in a medical office, hospital, outpatient surgery center, or related healthcare setting
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, diagnoses, treatment records, and clinical documentation
  • Ability to review high volumes of electronic medical records and identify relevant case information
  • Strong written & verbal communication, research, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

Responsibilities

  • Review medical and billing records to identify relevant diagnoses, treatment history, procedures, and case details
  • Help connect recommended or completed care to injuries, diagnoses, and case facts
  • Distinguish pre-existing medical conditions from injuries related to the case when supported by the records
  • Assist with life care plans, medical cost projections, narrative reports, and side-by-side analysis tables
  • Create cost projection tables when needed
  • Make clear notes in case records to support report development and case review
  • Attend scheduled consultation calls and evaluations with Certified Life Care Planner (CLCP) experts when needed
  • Support medical problem-solving, research, and analysis across assigned cases
  • Additional duties as assigned
